Thank you, what if the button hole is not in good shape? I bought some used jeans and it seems like the button went through the hole, leaving a hole way too big. Should I just put a patch inside so that the button has something to attach to?

Growing up, we were too poor to own a sewing machine so we stitched the rug together by hand. That was tough!!

If someone doesn't have a sewing machine, can the braids be hand sewn together fairly easily? Also, do you have a video on how to make the rug more elongated (oval shaped)?

I have a related but very specific question. I want to make a set of buttons for a pair of jeans I am having made to measure. I want to make the buttons out of silver. I'm a bench jeweler so forming the metal isn't a problem, but I don't know what winds up holding the front and back together. You mention a plastic part. Is that located in the shaft in the front piece? My initial thought to just make silver fronts compatible with standard backs. Any guidance you can provide would be most welcome. Thank you! I didn't know why my belly button was irritated and painful until I felt the edge of the inside button which was extremely sharp! I was going to try to sew a patch over it and then decided to check RUclips. Now I will just remove and replace with a sewn on button on ALL my Lee jeans. Thank you again!

Thanks for the great pattern. Since I'm a beginner, there's something I'm not clear: For the first step, you place one gusset over the front RST and sew. However, the edges of the gusset and the front are different: one curves downward, the other curves upward, as can be seen at 1:35. Is it alright?

Hej Megan. Is this machine capable of sewing in jeans? Hard and thick fabric?

My button keeps bending instead of getting tacked in when I hammer, any advice?

I am so disappointed! My friend and I did everthing you said and showed and the zigzag stitch on our machines don't seem to be wide enough to catch the edge of the baids so there are a lot of gaps. When we kept going anyway it cupped badly once we got near the placemat size. We've tried on different machines and just can't get it to work. We did support the rug as directed . Help! What kind of machine or width of stitch do we need?
